VvIDA RECIPE OF THE WEEK

VvIDA HOLIDAY HAMZ

My first time trying plant based ham was definitely different. I knew after my first year of not eating pork that I wasn’t going back. I had come to far. But, for the holiday not eating ham felt kind of awkward. Sure I could use something else to eat instead of pork. But, Christmas just wouldn’t feel as nostalgic without the smell of caramelized honey and brown sugar glazed ham in the air. Thankfully I’ve been able to find a version from ToFurky.com

I use ToFurky for meat substitution in some of my meals. This is a pretty decent replacement. With a little seasoning and marinating. This ham will give your taste buds what they’re familiar with. See below how to make this delicious Holiday Hamz for your Holiday dinner table. Enjoy!

Holiday HamZ

Ingredients

1-2 packages of Tofurky Ham

2 cans of sliced or crushed pineapples

1 jar of maraschino cherries

2 cups of brown sugar

1/2 cup of molasses

1/2 cup of honey

1 Tbsp of liquid smoke

1 Tbsp of Cloves

Directions:

Preheat oven according to the temperature that is stated on the package. Take the roasts out of the packages and slice into medium rounds. Place slices in a roasting dish. Add cloves, liquid smoke,  pineapples with the juice, cherries, brown sugar, honey, and molasses in a mixing bowl. Mix or puree this combination. Once it is mixed, pour onto the slices in the pan. Cover the slices and smother them with this liquid gold. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30-45 min.

Serve this with some cranberry sauce and you’re good to go! Holiday Hamz anyone?
