Maintaining Well-Being Through Stressful Times

When going through stressful moments one tends to use some kind of vice to soothe their pain, anxiety, anger, sadness, and all of the above. The vices are usually drugs, food, liquor, exercise, arguments with others, having someone to confide in, and etc. Some of those options are great and some aren’t so great obviously. Let me give you some tidbits on how to alleviate your stress.

Let’s take the stress away

Being a mother of three, running a business, and a household can be extremely taxing. With all of that responsibility comes with a great amount of stress. I’ve always been quite able to deal with stress. Especially, from your everyday stressors i.e. bills, people and their issues, family, work, co-parenting, and etc. Yes, I said co-parenting. If you know then you know. No shade. But, once the year 2020 came around. I was in over my head with dealing with a very unknown situation called the Covid-19 Pandemic and my everyday adult duties. When I tell you all that I was in dire need of some TLC. Boy! I had to find a way to de-stress and stat!

First, I definitely had my glasses of wine. Red that is.

I meditated with my crystals and yoga.

Gave myself projects to do that brought out my creativity. Projects that are soothing or that you’re interested in distracts you from harping on whatever is bothering you. One would say that this is an escape, but not so much if it’s in turn a beneficial project to get into for multiple reasons i.e. painting to place on your wall in your bedroom. Art is always nice.

I’m a big foodie and I know how much I love to stress eat. Instead of eating a lot of the wrong things. I stocked my kitchen with food that is nutrient dense and low calorie, but still delicious.

I definitely stayed physical through various activites. Ahem, sexual intercourse being one of them. Just saying! Due to serotonin and dopamine that is released by your body when you’re physical is great. I call it the feel good drug that your body provides.

I do partake in my THC and CBD infused products as well. If that’s not your thing. That is totally fine. Just one of my aids that had medicinal properties that soothes anxiety and muscle pain.

I map out time for myself away from all distractions. Including my children. Parents must do this! Believe me you aren’t being selfish. You’ll thank me later and your loved ones will too.

Spa days whether its in your own home and bathroom or at the spa. Do take the time to rejuvenate your body. A nice soak in the tub or steam shower is so soothing.

What 2020 taught me mostly is that I need to make self care a priority! Life is stressful. That will never change. How we deal with it is what makes us resilient and ready for the next challenge or whatever shall stress you. One has to identify what is stressing them and how to act on it. Think of positive ways to deal with it. Take a break and then come back with your full self ready to go. Now self care and alleviate that stress! You got it!
